32 Card Draw Poker Strategy

The Basics

I thought I would let you in on a few core 32 Card Draw Poker strategies that will help you. Many players will know this already but some minor details are just too important to leave out. You will see a lot of good poker players online. Many of them are broke. Why? I hear you ask. Normally players will go broke because they didn't follow some simple poker basics. They have all the fancy plays but when it comes to cashing out, it's too late. All winnings are gone and then some.

Don't play your entire bankroll.

Never show your hand.

If you know you are beat, fold.

Your sole aim is to win.

Don't Play Your Entire Bankroll

As a poker player your bankroll is your lifeline, without it, you'll be stuck in the freeroll division. That's the bottom line so protect your bankroll with your life. This is the number one rule for every poker player. Bankroll management is more important than any poker skills you may pick up in the future, without it you won't have poker for long.

If you are on the cash tables you should have at least 200 times the big blind.

If you are playing tournaments you should have at least 50 times the buyin.

What is a bankroll?

A bankroll is a set sum of money you have put aside for poker. Make sure it is money you can afford to lose, your personal life comes before poker. Use the above rule to keep your stake levels in check. If you find your bankroll dwindling, don't be too proud to drop down the stakes. Finally try to keep your bankroll purely for poker and only withdraw when you have reach a preset limit.

Managing your bankroll comes down to self discipline. If you have no discipline you'll struggle to improve. Start now with bankroll management.

Never Show your Hand

If a player want's to see your hand, make him pay to see it. Why leak out valuable information about your play if you don't have to? Are you trying to impress your opponents with your skills or build upon your bankroll? Players who flash their cards after a super duper cold bluff are mugs. they usually get caught with their pants down soon enough. Some players suggest that showing a hand can set up a future play. Players are wise to that and turn it against you by catching you off guard. Play safe and give your opponents nothing to work on.

If you Know you are Beat, Fold

Do you ever get those hands that look just too good to fold but you know you are beat?

I was playing 32 card draw the other day. 3 players in the hand, including myself. We all drew 2 cards and I had trip 7's. Not a bad hand but very vulnerable. I put in a feeler bet, it was raised, and raised again. The players were both fairly tight so I was guessing at least one of them had trips. In that case, I will probably have to improve on my hand. It will cost me 2 bets to call and probably more to see the hand through. I got out. In the end it was trip 10's against K's.

"Sometimes you just know you are behind. Learn to fold."

Your Sole Aim is to Win

Forget all the "nice hand", "nh" crap you see in the chat boxes. Your job is not to get a nice hand, this is totally random, everyone eventually gets good hands. It's how you play your hands that matters. The best hand doesn't always take down the pot. You should try to evaluate what the other players have by studying their habits and watching their discards.

If you can take down the pot with a weaker hand, do so. This usually happens when you are up against extremely tight players on the blinds. I will keep taken their blinds until they wise up or more likely when they find a playable hand.

Small Blind 1 Bet

Big Blind 2 Bets

I Raise to 4 Bets

I bet $4 to get $3. By the time they start playing back at me I have already accumulated more that they are likely to win back. If you study the tables, you'll find players who play too tight on their blinds. Play into them until they bite back, then maybe later, try again. If you try this tactic against an aggressive player you are in trouble.

Remember the Basics

If you want to last in poker make sure you have a tight reign on your bankroll. It's is your lifeline. Never show your hand unless you have to. There is no benefit to it other than massaging your ego. When you are behind, learn to pull back, don't grow too attached to flashy looking hands.

Finally, your only aim is to win (keep within the rules). Taking down a big pot with a small hand is better than taking down a small pot with a big hand.

Where can I play 32 Draw Poker?

32 card draw can only be played on the Entraction network. The largest and most well known site on the network is devilfishpoker.com I always recommend bigger, more established sites when choosing a particular network to play on, that way I know my hard earned money is secure.

As a direct result of the U.I.G.E.A. , players based in American cannot play real money games on the Entraction Network, this means they cannot play this form of draw poker online. For real money US players, go for either pokerstars.com or fulltiltpoker.com
