Cheekyfish Memory Method
Do you think some people may end up with headaches learning Suit Ranks? Use the Cheekyfish method.
Cheekyfish readers don't get HeaDaCheS learning Suit Ranks or anything else for that matter.
HeaDaCheS = Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, Spades.
You can apply word association to memorize anything. If you are trying to learn something long, write a short story with all the words or letters you need to know, vision it and read it back to yourself . Now get yourself a pen and paper. Write down the list you had to memorize. do it a few time until it is automatic. Apply the Cheekyfish method to anything poker related and beyond.
Simplicity is the key!
Hand Ranks
Royal Flush
Ace-King-Queen-Jack-Ten. All cards must be of the same suit. The best possible Royal Flush is Hearts suited.
Straight Flush
Again, all cards must be suited and the straight must be less than an ace high. Note; you can still make a backdoor straight flush with Ace-7-8-9-10, the lowest possible straight flush.
Four of a Kind
Four cards of the same value. Four Aces is the best 4 of a kind you can get. In my first ever 32 Draw Poker session I got a few 4 of a kinds. They may be easier to get but they still get me excited.
Flush
Five cards of the same suit. The player with the strongest suited card is deemed the winner, the second best card will come into play in the case of a tie. This continues until one player is deemed the winner. If players are still tied, the winner will be resolved by suit, Hearts flush being the highest.
Full House
2 cards of 1 rank and 3 of another. Three Aces and any pair makes the best Full House. In the outcome of more than a single poker player possessing a Full House, the highest three cards in a particular hand settles the winner. Just remember that your Full House loses to a Flush. It is a strong hand but in 32 Card Draw it can be dangerous to grow attached to it.
Straight
You must possess a run of Five cards in your hand. Ace counts as both high and low. You can make a low straight with Ace,10,9,8,7 and 6 but the best straight is 10-J-Q-K-A, with the Ace of Hearts in your hand. All ties will be determined by suit.
Three of a Kind
3 of the same rank, and two dead cards. If there are multiple players with 3 of a kind, the winner will be the player who has the best 3 of a kind in there hand. Trip Aces is the best possible hand.
Two Pairs
Two cards of one value and two of another, plus one unmatched card. If at least 2 players are holding 2 pairs, the the winner will be the player holding the best ranked pair. If both players have the comparable valued two pairs then a high card enters into play, the highest kicker wins. The player with the highest suited kicker card collects the pot, if the game is still tied.
One Pair
Three unconnected cards and 2 cards of the same rank. The kicker card will determine the winner if there are players with duplicate ranked pairs. The best ranking suit of the top kicker will be employed to define the winner if it is still even.
High Card
This is when your hand does not even hold a pair. All cards are interpreted high cards in this instance. The winner is the player with the highest kicker. If tied it goes to the 2nd card and extends down the kicker cards until we get a winner. Suit values ensure that we will get a clear winner of the hand.
